smolak farms photoLocated on 160 acres of beautiful North Andover farmland, families will enjoy a multitude of outdoor farm related activities.

Worth a trip from anywhere, Smolak Farms in North Andover, Massachusetts combines agriculture, education and entertainment in a very special way. Carved by glaciers, settled by prehistoric Indian tribes and farmed by descendants of Martin and Magdalenna Smolak, this historical homestead can be traced back 300 years.

Today, visitors come to pick fruit from the orchards and shop at the farm's bakery and farm stand, which feature mouth-watering pies, muffins, our famous cider donuts, breads and wonderful gift items for the home and to give as presents. Children can go on an educational hayride with their school or group, have a birthday party, attend our summer Nature & Craft program or visit our animals.

The Farm boasts a wide variety of animals including Fallow Deer, Zebu Cow, Pygmy Goats, Pigs, Sheep, Mute Swans, Peafowl, Pheasants, Ducks and Geese.

Smolak Farms is best known for 7 months of orchards. Just a sampling would be strawberries in June; raspberries, blueberries and sour cherries in July; peaches, heirloom tomatoes, nectarines and plums in August; apples and pumpkins in September and pumpkins in October.

The farm continues to bustle with excitement in November and December as children rush to find and cut that perfect Christmas tree! Parents love our holiday gifts and our homemade gingerbread houses. Santa also visits so kids can tell him what they want for Christmas.

4-starCan't Wait Until They Open Again
I love taking my daughter (age 3) to Smolak. We go about once a week during the spring, summer and fall. Everything in the bakery is amazing, including the coffee, muffins and pies. Birthday parties there are very nice especially in October. I've heard complaints that they are expensive ($30 to pick a large bag of apples) but in my experience it's easy to go and not spend a lot of money, just wandering, feeding the animals and taking photos, etc. The playground is free and the hayrides fun for the kids. Be sure to sign up for their email list to get notices of special events, festivals, the picking schedule, etc.
5-starAwesome Place-Lots To Do
We went to the farm on Columbus day and had a great time. The apple cider donuts were heavenly. My son enjoyed feeding the animals and the festival events(bouncy house, big slide, wee wagon ride etc.). We ended the afternoon going apple picking and there were plenty of apples to pick from. My only recommendation for the Smolak farms is to invest and build some bathrooms. I would rather wait for a more modern one than stand in line for a short time for the portable ones.
5-starGreat Memories
I grew up going to Smolak Farms and have great memories. They have really branched out and do so much more than grow apples! The muffins and doughnuts fresh from the bakery are heavenly. My son loves all of the animals. Though I don't live in town anymore, whenever I'm in the area I try to stop by.
