In the northern Berkshires of Western Massachusetts, Crab Apple Whitewater offers six different whitewater rafting adventures. River rafting trips range from mild to WILD, full or half-day. From beginners to more experienced rafters, our family will enjoy taking your family, group or organization down these beautiful rivers. Crab Apple offers seven different white water rafting trips in Massachusetts and inflatable kayak trips on the Deerfield and Miller's Rivers.
The most popular white water rafting trips in Massachusetts are offered daily on the Deerfield River Fife Brook Section. This trip features fun, easy Class II-III whitewater. This is a great rafting trip for families and youth organizations.
A Brief Outline of Massachusetts Rafting Options:
Deerfield River - Fife Brook Section
Easy Class I-III whitewater, Min. Age 8
10 miles, 3 - 4 hours on river, delicious picnic lunch
Deerfield River - Monroe Bridge Section
Aggressive Class III-IV whitewater, Min. Age 15
2.5 - 3 hours on river, awesome cookout lunch
Deerfield River Funyaks
Easy Class I-II whitewater, Min. Age 5 for double, 10 for single
8 miles, 3 hours on river, riverside snack
Deerfield River Float Trip
Easy Class I-II whitewater, Min. Age 5
8 miles, 3 hours on river, riverside snack
Deerfield Raft and Funyak Combo
Intermediate Class 1-3 whitewater, Min. Age 10
6 miles raft, 5 miles funyak, 4 hours on water, picnic lunch, Spring only
Miller's River
Intermediate Class II-IV whitewater, Min. Age 12
10 miles, 2-3 hours on river, cookout lunch, Spring only
Class III-IV rapids
The Deerfield River also has Class III-IV rapids on the Monroe Bridge section of the river. This white water rafting trip is offered on dam release dates May through October. They have two half day white water trips on the Deerfield River.
Funyak Trip
The inflatable kayak or 'funyak' trip on the Deerfield River is an unguided afternoon river trip on Class I-II whitewater. Kids as young as age 5 will enjoy this funyak trip. Another great river trip for families or active seniors is the Deerfield River Float Trip. This 8 mile trip features beautiful scenery and splashes of Class I-II white water.
Crab Apple's rafting base is located on the Deerfield River with a great view of the southern Berkshire Mountains. All trips meet at their riverside base and the funyak and float trips end right at the base.
