For one day only, museums across the country will join the Smithsonian Institution in its long-standing tradition of offering free admission to visitors. Check out a new museum or an old favorite and enjoy the day!
Museum Day is an annual event hosted by Smithsonian magazine in which participating museums across the country open their doors to anyone presenting a Museum Day Ticket...for free. The Museum Day ticket offers free admission to one person plus a guest.

For the first time, Museum Day is open to the general public as well as Smithsonian magazine’s subscribers. The card located at the linked page above is good for two people at any of the hundreds of participating museums!
Are There Any Restrictions?
- General admission only
- Not valid for special exhibits, IMAX screenings or for use with any other offer.
- One ticket per household - one time use.
- Some participating museums may already have a free admission policy year round and are participating in the 'spirit' of the day.
