boston free winter fitness series photoThe Boston Parks and Recreation Department and the Boston Public Health Commission (BPHC) have announced the Winter Fitness Series from January 3 through May 1, 2021.

The four-month-long free fitness series will offer free virtual classes to be enjoyed online from the safety of your home from January 3 through May 1. Download PDF Schedule.

Everyone is welcome at our free classes, no matter what your fitness level is. For information on cancellations, check Twitter at @healthyboston and @bostonparksdept. You can also call 617-635-4505.


Virtual Dance HIIT - Mondays from 5:00pm - 6:00pm
Dance Fit is a cardio-dance-based class that will get your heart pumping and hips shaking while combining strength moves to get you stronger! Move and dance to the beat while breaking a sweat and torching calories.

Virtual Salsa - Tuesdays from 6:00pm - 7:00pm
Learn a variety of dance styles through Salsa Suelta line dancing with MetaMovements' Eli Pabon and special guests!

Virtual Line Dancing - Wednesdays from 7:00pm - 8:00pm
Move to the music in a fun workout that involves choreographed steps and upbeat dancing.

Virtual Chair Yoga - Thursdays from 11:00am - 12:00pm
This gentle form of yoga can be done sitting on a chair, or standing on the ground while using the chair for support.

The programs are tailored to the interests of residents and participants, including age-friendly classes for kids and older adults as well as those new to fitness classes.

By engaging in a citywide effort to increase opportunities for physical activity, BPHC and the Parks Department aim to further reduce barriers to active living and achieve the goal of ensuring that Bostonians have ample opportunities to be active year-round thanks to the expansion of this program. *Outdoor activities are weather permitting.
