cambridge science festival photoCambridge Science Festival, the first of its kind in the United States, is a city-wide celebration showcasing the leading edge in science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM).

This year's festival runs from September 25 - October 1, featuring everything from lab tours and demonstrations to futuristic fashion shows, from environmental kayak adventures to pub trivia nights, from public art installations to the unmissable, family-friendly Science Carnival - a gigantic STEM extravaganza complete with robot petting zoo and liquid nitrogen ice cream freeze off competition.

Comprising hundreds of events, workshops, lectures, demonstrations, multidisciplinary collaborations, family-friendly exhibitions and interactive experiences, CSF is a STEAM-themed extravaganza highlighting Cambridge’s diverse innovative community.

This fall, another electrifying pop-up festival lights up the Open Space, in the heart of Kendall Square and across the city of Cambridge.

Every CSF event is free and open to the public.

The week-long celebration combines all the magic and mayhem of modern science in an action-packed program of events, demonstrations, workshops and performances.

Come see a show, grab a bite, get involved and stay for the day.

Let the great experiment begin…

IF/THEN The Exhibit
Lyda Hill Philanthropies’ IF/THEN® Initiative presents #IfThenSheCan – The Exhibit. The is a monumental exhibit of 120 3D-printed bright orange statues celebrating contemporary women innovators in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).

Cambridge Science Festival hosts a pop-up exhibit of 30 of these statues, with individual stories of the women the statues represent accessible through QR code-linked videos, images and biographies. The installation highlights how a more diverse, more inclusive workforce will strengthen the world’s shared future — IF we support a woman in STEM, THEN she can change the world!

At the core of this year’s festival are three spectacular headline events: SCIENCE+NATURE, SCIENCE+FOOD and SCIENCE+FASHION. These unmissable experiences showcase science ‘out of the lab’, bringing artists, engineers, designers, scientists and spectators together in a series of breathtaking open-air entertainments.

Open Lab
We’re thrilled to launch OPEN LAB – a city-wide open-day for the Cambridge science and maker community to throw open our doors and invite visitors in to share our work where it happens.

Science Carnival & Robot Zoo
The Science Carnival and Robot Zoo return on Sunday, October 9th, with plenty of other activities throughout the week.

Beyond the Open Space, you’ll find a fantastic range of experiences and events hosted by our satellite venues across the city of Cambridge — check back here for the Festival Guide with every event and venue listed, and sign up to our mailing list to make sure you don’t miss out.
