Dir. Frederick Wiseman, 2014

'National Gallery' takes the audience behind the scenes of a London institution, to the heart of a museum inhabited by masterpieces of Western art from the Middle Ages to the 19th Century.

'National Gallery' is the portrait of a place, its way of working and relations with the world, its staff and public, and its paintings.

In a perpetual and dizzying game of mirrors, film watches painting watches film.

This film screening is a part of the Film Series: Museums in Motion hosted by the Davis Museum.

All films take place in Collins Cinema beginning at 6:30pm.

In honor of the Davis’s newly installed permanent collections galleries, uncover the secret life of museums through this selection of recent cinematic masterpieces.

These contemporary films pull back the curtain on unique, behind-the-scenes views of museum activities and characters, both real and imagined.
