New England PANS PANDAS Association would like to extend an invitation to you to attend special pre-screenings of the documentary on Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders (PANDAS), My Kid Is Not Crazy: A Search for Hope in the Face of Misdiagnosis.

The film, by Tim Sorel, tracks the journey of six children and their families as they become tangled in a medical system heavily influenced by the pharmaceutical industry.

It also tells the story of Dr. Susan Swedo, of the National Institutes of Health, who discovered a link between strep throat and sudden onset OCD and/or tics as well as other psychiatric symptoms.

Since her breakthrough, there has been controversy regarding the disorder and its appropriate treatment.

Sorel also interviews the nation’s top experts in science, medicine and treatment to separate fact from fiction.

This film looks at the diagnosis, physicians on both sides of the argument, and most importantly the lives of young children and the families that PANDAS affects.

Medical research, insurance coverage, and educational and family support cannot come soon enough.
