The UNIQLO Festival of Films from Japan returns to the MFA with a curated lineup of recent releases and restored classics spanning intimate character studies, anime, and sweeping cinematic sagas.This year's selections include Akiko Oku's romantic drama 'She Taught Me Serendipity,' the kabuki epic 'Kokuho' (a major box office and awards success in Japan), and Sho Miyake's 'Two Seasons, Two Strangers,' winner of the top prize at the Locarno Film Festival.
Animation fans will want to catch Yasuhiro Aoki's colorful 'ChaO,' and Studio Ghibli's 40th anniversary is celebrated with a 4K restoration of Hayao Miyazaki's 'Princess Mononoke.' The festival also revisits Mamoru Oshii's 'Angel's Egg' in a new 4K restoration and Katsuhito Ishii's surreal 'The Taste of Tea.'
