The Competition is ON!

This year will be the 11th Boston Local Food Festival!

Annabel Rabiyah is the head chef and cofounder of Awafi Kitchen.

She is an urban farmer and educator, has worked on the line at Mei Mei restaurant, on the baking team at Mamaleh's Delicatessen, and collaborated with restaurants across the Boston area.

Awafi Kitchen is where Arab and Jewish cuisine are one in the same.

It was founded by cousins of Iraqi Jewish diaspora who share recipes and make meals as a tribute to their heritage.

Their menus are recreations of the meals they grew up eating as children, and the stories they heard of food in the old country.

Follow them on Facebook and Instagram @theawafikitchen for content and updates on upcoming events.

Born in Guatemala, Chef Ricardo Monroy has been cooking for almost 20 years.

He moved from Guatemala to Boston 6 years ago to look for new opportunities and new things to learn in life.

In the recent past he worked as a culinary instructor, as a chef in Switzerland and has been part of diverse community and nonprofit organizations including Haley House Cafe, Take Back the Kitchen and Future Chefs.

He has also been the winner of the 2018 and 2019 Boston JerkFest Seafood and Jerk Cook-off, respectively.

His cuisine includes and likes to combine influences from different parts of the world like Central and South America, African Diaspora and the Caribbean, Europe, South Asian and classic American.

Currently, he is starting his own hot sauce business ' Ricky's Hot Stuff '.
