A recipient of the Order of Canada, Lindemann brings virtuosic command and genre-spanning artistry to this celebratory evening.

JENS LINDEMANN, trumpet
As the first classical brass soloist to receive the Order of Canada, trumpeter Jens Lindemann is widely regarded as one of the most celebrated artists in the history of his instrument.

Recently named International Brass Personality of the Year by Brass Herald, Lindemann has built an extraordinary career that spans classical and jazz, redefining the role of the trumpet on the world stage.

Lindemann has performed in virtually every major concert venue worldwide, including the Philharmonics of New York, Los Angeles, London, Berlin, Moscow, and Tokyo, as well as Carnegie Hall and even the Great Wall of China.

His wide-ranging career includes appearances as an orchestral soloist, a featured performer at the 2010 Olympic Games for a global audience of two billion, performances at London’s Last Night of the Proms, lead trumpet work with the Canadian Brass, and a Command Performance for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

His accolades include GRAMMY® and Juno nominations, Germany’s Echo Klassik Award, British Bandsman Solo CD of the Year, and multiple honorary doctorates.

Trained at The Juilliard School and McGill University, Lindemann has collaborated with leading artists and conductors including Sir Neville Marriner, Charles Dutoit, Pinchas Zukerman, Doc Severinsen, and Kent Nagano.

Critics praise his “golden timbre and virtuosic flair” (The New York Times).

Based in Los Angeles, Lindemann is Professor with High Distinction at UCLA and Director of the Banff Centre Summer Brass Program.

He is an international Yamaha Artist, performing exclusively on 24K gold-plated instruments.
