annual banjo fiddle contests photoGet ready for a full day of music and family fun in Lowell, MA! The Banjo & Fiddle Contest returns for its 44th year on Saturday, September 6, 2025, running from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

*PLEASE NOTE: Due to the threat of inclement weather, the Banjo & Fiddle Contest will be moving indoors to Merrimack Repertory Theatre, 50 E. Merrimack Street, Lowell, MA 01852. The forecast is calling for strong winds and possible thunderstorms later in the afternoon, which could affect the tail end of the contest. Our plan is to host the morning workshops in the outdoor spaces at and around MRT (weather permitting), with the contest itself taking place inside the theatre.*

All scheduled times and programming will remain the same.

Event Schedule
10:00 AM – Workshops
11:00 AM – Organized Jam Sessions
