Stop by North River for a free day of family-friendly fun on Sunday, June 2!
Open House
Explore the great outdoors by taking a guided bird walk or going on a tour of our grounds and gardens. Prefer to stay inside? Take a stroll through our art gallery to see Avian Works in Four Mediums, an exhibit by local artist Karie O'Donnell!
Families can have it both ways—hang out in one of our indoor discovery rooms, or take the kids outside to our nature play area.
Whatever you do, don't leave without visiting the Gift Shop! Peruse our selection of feeders, nest boxes, field guides, books, and specialty items, many of which are locally handcrafted. Our staff can help you pick out the right bird feeders, accessories, and field guides for you.
Native Plant Sale
Bird garden at North River Wildlife Sanctuary
Brighten your gardens, provide habitat for birds and butterflies, and support South Shore Sanctuaries by purchasing native shrubs and flowering perennials for your backyard landscape. Master gardeners will also be available for advice and to answer questions!
→ All proceeds from the Native Plant Sale help us maintain and enhance the grounds, trails, and gardens at our sanctuaries.

From Route 3 south: Take exit 13 (Route 53, Hanover/Norwell) and turn left onto Route 53. Go 0.6 miles and turn right at light onto Route 123. Go 5.7 miles and take first exit off rotary onto Route 3A south. Sanctuary entrance is 1.6 miles ahead on the left, shortly after the North River bridge.
From Route 3 north: Take exit 12 (Route 139, Marshfield/Pembroke). Take Route 139 east toward Marshfield and go 3 miles to Route 3A. Turn left (north) and follow Route 3A for 4.6 miles to sanctuary entrance on right.
