Choate Island Day
Wind, waves, and wet from Hurricane Dorian will make it impossible for us to have a safe and enjoyable Choate Island Day as scheduled on September 7 th , but the event has been rescheduled for Saturday, October 5, 2019.
RESCHEDULED TO OCTOBER 5, 2019
Spend a day with us in celebration of Choate Island - the crown jewel of the Crane Wildlife Refuge. Here deer and foxes roam through fields that once housed herds of sheep, and osprey fly over breathtakinng views of Essex Bay. The island was once home to generations of the Choate family and was later a retreat for Cornelius and Mine Crane, who loved the place so much they decided to be buried at the summit. Park at Crane Beach, catch the shuttle at the boat dock, and your adventure through miles of walking trails, wild landscapes, and historic buildings begins...
The shuttles will run continuously between 10am and 3pm. The last boat to the Island departs at 1pm, and the last boat returns from the island at 3pm.
Light refreshments will be served. Feel free to bring a picnic lunch, but remember to carry out all that you carry in, and please no alcohol.
Please visit www.thetrustees.org or call 978.356.4351 x4052 for more information.
(last boat to the island departs at 1 p.m.)
