SCHEDULE OF ACTIVITIES
3PM-6PM: SOLSTICE CARDBOARD BOAT CHALLENGE
Can you make a boat out of cardboard and paddle it 25 yards?
Before it sinks?
Can you design your boat not only for maximum flotation and speed but also to blend in with the river habitat?
In an hour and a half?
We challenge you to test your engineering skills and have a blast building a cardboard boat to race in the Concord River!
You just bring your team and intrepid spirit, and we’ll provide the materials!
Winner categories include: First boat across the finish line; Most creative Concord River habitat design; Most spectacular sinking.
* Free online registration required to race
6PM-9PM: SUMMER SOLSTICE CELEBRATION
Celebrate summer's arrival with boating, picnicking, musical entertainment and a bonfire with OARS and The Umbrella Arts & Environment.
Optional Solstice Paddle
Put-in your boat at the Lowell Rd.
launch (or rent one at the South Bridge Boat House, 486 Main St., 978-369-9438) and paddle to the Old North Bridge to join the Celebration!
Picnic at The Old Manse
Enjoy musical entertainment by Sawyer Lawson as we picnic on the beautiful grounds of the Old Manse.
Illuminated Flotilla with Singing on the Bridge
Join Voices for the Earth in song on the Old North Bridge.
Or...canoe/kayak in the Concord River with your candle lantern to join our beautiful illuminated flotilla.
Solstice Bonfire
Cap off a magical evening by toasting up s’mores at our Solstice Bonfire.
