Celebrate World Wildlife Day at Stone Zoo!

In honor of Leap Day, learn about species that have an extra spring in their step, such as the Panamanian golden frog and the snow leopard.

Did you know snow leopards can leap down heights of 60 feet, or that the long front and back legs of the Panamanian golden frog make it an excellent jumper?

Learn about these species during special zookeeper chats and more!

Zoo New England has long been committed to amphibian conservation efforts in Panama, and is a leader and partner in the Panama Amphibian Rescue and Conservation Project.

As an indicator species, amphibians play a critical role in the health of their ecosystems.

Because they are uniquely sensitive to environmental changes, amphibians’ well-being is directly tied to the health of their ecosystem.

Amphibians are severely affected by habitat loss, climate change, pollution and pesticides, introduced species, and over-collection as food and pets.

Known as “ghosts of the mountain,” snow leopards are incredibly agile cats well adapted to the rugged rocky terrain of the Himalayas.

Zoo New England is a Conservation Partner with the Snow Leopard Trust, working together to protect this flagship species from extinction.

The Snow Leopard Trust is the oldest and largest organization working to better understand snow leopard behavior and habitat.

Zoo New England is committed to the preservation of this incredible species.
