Big Day Boston is a friendly birding competition to see who can spot the highest number of species in a single day in the core of Boston.

Birders Participating in Big Day Boston 2023 can only count species they observe while within the boundaries of the competition.

Birds may be observed and counted outside of the boundary as long as the observer is within the boundary.

For example, water birds in the harbor may be counted from a wharf in the North End.

The following neighborhoods are within the boundaries of the competition:

- Beacon Hill
- Charlestown
- Chinatown
- Downtown
- Downtown Waterfront
- The Leather District
- The North End
- The West End
- This includes the Common and the Public Garden.

All other locations - inside and outside of Boston - are out of bounds.

Checkin/kickoff: Opens at 9:00 AM at Copp's Hill Terrace.

Birding starts at 10 AM Checklists submitted: No later than 4 PM at Copp's Hill Terrace Winner announced/awards: 4:30 PM at Copp's Hill Terrace
