** This event was rescheduled from a previous date due to rain.**

Come celebrate Japanese culture amongst the Arboretum’s beautiful cherry blossoms, with Taiko drumming by Karen Young and KASA Taiko, and calligraphy and Japanese games by the Showa Boston Institute.

The Taiko drumming will be taking place from 6:00-6:30, with Showa activities before and after.

Seating for the performance will be on the ground, but you are welcome to bring a blanket to sit on.

In Japan, the appearance of cherry blossoms (sakura 桜) in early spring is marked by festivals, parties, and flower viewing in public spaces where the trees thrive.

At the Arnold Arboretum, the cherry collection along Forest Hills Road near the ponds draws visitors to enjoy the beautiful and fragrant blooms of our remarkable collection of flowering cherries.

Our gathering to celebrate sakura and Japanese culture in the Bradley Rosaceous Collection near the ponds has been rescheduled to today, Wednesday, April 24 from 6–7 p.m.

Enjoy the rhythms of Taiko drumming by Karen Young and KASA Taiko from 6–6:30 p.m. and learn calligraphy and Japanese games with our friends from the Showa Boston Institute.

Visitors are welcome to bring a blanket to sit on for the performance.

This event is appropriate for all ages.
