This year the 119th annual parade will take place on June 8, beginning as usual at 1:00 p.m. in Lower Mills at the corner of Washington Street and Dorchester Avenue and traveling along Dot Ave to Savin Hill and the finish at Columbia Road.
Parade Route
The parade route is 3.2 miles and starts in Lower Mills at the corner of Washington Street & Dorchester Avenue and travels along Dorchester Avenue to Savin Hill at the corner of Columbia Road and Dorchester Avenue.
The Parade will include lots of local groups including the Dorchester Elite Eagles, Level Ground Mixed Martial Arts, the Boys and Girls Club of Dorchester, the Kenny School Marching Band led by Jerry Chu, and students from several neighborhood schools.
Dorchester Day began in 1904 as a celebration of the founding of Dorchester on Savin Hill in 1630 and was followed by the first parade in 1905.
