About The Children’s Heart Foundation:
The Children’s Heart Foundation (CHF) is celebrating 30 years as the nation’s leading organization solely dedicated to funding congenital heart defect research.
Our mission is to advance the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of congenital heart defects by funding the most promising research.
Everything we do—events, fundraising, partnerships, communications—connects back to research as the catalyst for change.
History of CHF: CHF was founded in 1996 by Betsy and Steve Peterson, whose son Sam passed away from complications of a congenital heart defect.
Sam’s legacy is our purpose—his story transformed personal loss into a national movement focused on hope, answers, and better outcomes for children and families affected by CHDs.From one family’s determination, CHF has grown into a trusted national organization focused on advancing the science of CHD care.
