peabody essex museum february vacation week activities photoCome join us for a week of exploration into our relationship with nature and discover new ways to become a steward of the earth.

Visit PEM this week to experience books in exciting new ways — discover how they're created, see special performances, participate in collaborative art-making projects, hear readings from authors and more!

Each day features great new activities.

Wes Sam-Bruce’s Mobile Studio
10 am–4 pm | Atrium

Explore the 'Interconnectedness' of human beings with the natural world through a wide range of imaginative practices. Prompts are inspired by guest artist Wes Sam-Bruce and his upcoming exhibition Where the Questions Live, opening September 2019 in the Art & Nature Center.

Wild Designs
11 am–3 pm | Studio 1, Create Space

Participate in a collaborative bioinspired art-making project celebrating the 150th anniversary of the periodic table of elements, led by Dr. Daniel Jay, scientist and fine artist.

Nature’s Nation: American Art and Environment
10:45–11:30 am and 1:30–2:15 pm

Join Curatorial Studies students as they lead family-friendly tours of our exhibition.

Join guest artist Wes Sam-Bruce on a reflective tour of the museum’s galleries. Take a moment to pause and enjoy the art around you in a new way.

Meet a scientist and take a deeper dive into bioinspired innovations in design technology and art.

Michelle Lougee
11 am–3 pm | Atrium

The distinctive work of Cambridge artist Michelle Lougee addresses the impact of our consumerist society on nature. Using recycled materials and repetition, Lougee creates sculptures depicting micro and macro life forms, which grant us a new look at our everyday world. Visit us throughout the week to watch the artist at work on an original site-specific piece.
