Hours:9am – 4pm
Ages:Toddlers, Kids, Teens, Adults

The tour lasts about an hour (give or take) and takes place partially outside (weather permitting), and partially inside. Learn about the history of maple sugaring and how it came into being. They talk about tapping trees and have samples of different types of taps dating back into the 1800's. See how they go about collecting sap, filtering it and boiling it, and their evaporator is running, so you will see that in operation.

Learn how to know when it's done, how to filter and bottle and how to make other products like maple candy and maple cream. There are 6 samples during the tour, including sap, partially done syrup, fully done syrup, maple cream, maple candy and maple sugar. On some days they also add a 7th sample - maple bacon ice cream! There is no charge for the tour, although there is a donation box for those that feel compelled.

NO pressure, and NO expectations. Products will be available for sale (cash or check only), and again, NO pressure, NO expectations. The purpose is for the community to learn a bit about agriculture, and specifically maple sugaring, and to have a fun day!

TIPS↑ top

  • Might be a bit muddy outside walking to the sugar house, so would be a good idea to wear boots.

5-starFantastic
What a great experience - worth the drive. Only one tapped tree to see (others are dispersed around town) but a great way to see firsthand how syrup is made. An informative yet funny lesson on maple syrup w/ tastings. They choose not to charge for this- they certainly could if they wanted to. Donate to help support this great couple and their 4 girls! Or just buy one of everything like we did! Yummy! More interesting for 5+yr old b/c lots of stuff for little ones to touch and not much room to run around in the sugar house.
