Happy Birthday USS Constitution!What’s a birthday, without a party?
Double the fun when it’s two birthdays!
On October 21, 1797, USS Constitution slipped into the waters of Boston Harbor and began her service to the country.
Now 225 years later, we invite you to join us as we celebrate the Ship’s historic career in true birthday fashion with a Birthday Block Party!
It’s a double-themed occasion as the USS Constitution Museum is also marking our own milestone of 50 years honoring “Old Ironsides” in the community.
We’ll have birthday-themed activities and events throughout the day, including cake!
Come leave your birthday wishes for the Ship and enjoy a fun-filled day at the Museum and Charlestown Navy Yard.
Activities and entertainment to mark the day, include:
• A USS Constitution-themed 9-hole miniature golf course in the Navy Yard. Test your putting skills and your knowledge, with Constitution and Museum trivia to reflect our history at each hole.
• Try your hand at cornhole, other yard games and interactive activities, hosted by the United States Navy, United States Air Force, United States Marine Corps, United States Coast Guard and USO New England.
• Enjoy the sounds of the Navy Band Northeast’s popular group, “President’s Duo.”
• Performance Times: 12:00 pm- 12:30 pm & 1:00 pm- 1:30 pm
• Ready, Aim, Fire! Step into the role of the courageous crew who manned USS Constitution and fire your own Alka-Seltzer cannon!
• Put on your ship builder’s cap to design and build your own mini ship. See if you can meet the challenge, testing the speed and strength of your boat!
• Have your cake, too! Partake in a slice of birthday cake and other refreshments (while slices last).
• Cake Cutting Ceremony: 12:30 pm
The event is free for all ages and no registration is required.
