On Sunday, December 14 (1–3 PM), the Concord Museum will host a special 30th Anniversary Birthday Celebration for its beloved exhibition Family Trees: A Celebration of Children’s Literature. The afternoon will feature award-winning children’s authors and illustrators, hands-on activities, festive readings, book-themed party favors, and appearances by beloved characters—including The Very Hungry Caterpillar.
Visitors can take part in a museum-wide celebration of imagination, creativity, and family traditions by:
- Meeting some of today’s most celebrated children’s authors and illustrators,
- Joining family-friendly hands-on activities,
- Enjoying birthday cupcakes and book-themed party favors,
- And participating in festive readings with family and friends
Highlighted guests include Caldecott Honoree Aaron Becker, NYT bestselling illustrator Scott Magoon, and celebrated authors Carrie Finison, Susan Richmond, Britt Crow-Miller, and Peter Reynolds.
This year’s Family Trees installation includes a mix of classic favorites from Goodnight Moon to The Very Hungry Caterpillar, and newly published titles.
A highlight of the 2025 installation is a magical, sculptural interpretation of Thank You, Old Oak, created by local artist Meaghan Elyse and inspired by Barefoot Books, the event’s lead sponsor.
Author Britt Crow-Miller will participate in the December 14th celebration.
