After Dark is a monthly adults-only, after-hours event at the museum.

Full of science and surprises, expect demonstrations, tastings, conversation and interactive play.

Our galleries will be open for you, and we'll always have live music, cash bar, and bites for purchase by culinary specialists from around the city.

On November 13, we're celebrating the art and the science of Sleep, Dream, Wake.

This November, discover how sleep, dreams, and light collide at the MIT Museum.

Start the evening with a lively talk by Dr. Charles Czeisler and learn how light shapes the way we sleep, wake, and feel.

Next, step inside Hotel Room #2: Communal Dreams and let pulses of light, sound, and motion guide your mind. Created by artists Carsten Höller, Adam Haar Horowitz, and Seth Riskin, the installation allows three sleepers at a time to drift into a shared, collective dream. After Dark guests are invited to participate in this immersive five-minute experience.

Test your circadian smarts in a playful game by Olivia Walch that shows how signals from light can help you beat jet lag or wake up refreshed.

Then, get hands-on with cyanotype-making, experimenting with light and shadow in a creative, playful way.

Please note that backpacks and large bags are not permitted.

On Thursday December 11 - After Dark | Time Travel

Buckle up, time travelers — it's going to get weird.

Join physicist Alan Guth and philosopher Agustín Rayo for a mind-bending conversation on the science (and paradoxes) of time travel. Then, fast-forward—or rewind—through a series of hands-on experiences that will bend your perception of now.

Enjoy a time travel happy hour with ultrasonic-aged drinks, catch a glimpse of your future self in a creative maker activity, and journey into the past to see how earlier generations imagined what was ahead.

End the night with a live performance by Violet Nox, whose cosmic soundscapes will carry you through the space-time continuum.

Delicious dumplings from Mei Mei and tasty drinks from Momma’s Grocery + Wine available for purchase.
