Holiday episodes from four classic Black sitcoms of the 1970s, ‘80s and ‘90s – performed live – comprise a hilarious night of seasonal delights as Front Porch Arts Collective serves up its “Holiday Feast” program.

A starry roster of Boston actors do staged readings of Christmastime scripts from the sitcoms 227, Sanford & Son, Sister, Sister and black-ish. Front Porch Associate Artistic Director Pascale Florestal directs.

Performances take place Dec. 13 @ 2 pm, and @ 7 pm, at Suffolk University’s Modern Theatre, 525 Washington Street in downtown Boston. Tickets are $20 and available at frontporcharts.org. “Holiday Feast” runs approximately 90 minutes with no intermission.

The classic TV episodes being performed are:

227 – 'The Night They Arrested Santa Claus' (1988) – Christmas is nearly ruined for the residents of 227 by a Santa Claus-dressed thief who steals everyone’s gifts.

Sanford & Son – 'Ebenezer Sanford' (1975) – After lashing out at Lamont, Esther and Bubba, Fred Sanford has a dream in which Lamont is the spirit of Christmas past.

Sister, Sister – 'Christmas' (1995) – Sisters Tia and Tamera use their Christmas money to pay a loan shark who hounds Grandpa Campbell.

Black-ish – 'Just Christmas, Baby' (2016) – Zoey heads to college soon so Dre tries to plan the best Christmas ever, inviting Johan and Gigi to the celebration.

The 2025 “Holiday Feast” cast includes Jackie Davis, Maurice Emmanuel Parent (Producing Artistic Director of The Porch), Rebekah Brunson, Kayla Sessoms, Karimah Williams, Thomika Marie Bridwell, TJ Robinson, Sharmarke Yusuf, Dominic Carter, Paul Benford Bruce and special guest Dawn Simmons.

Holiday Feast director Pascale Florestal says “I love that we can pay tribute to holiday episodes from the TV shows that shaped us, made us laugh, and brought us together. More than two generations of sitcoms are represented here, with some of the greatest writers in TV history. As always, our cast is phenomenal!”

Tickets to the performances are available through Front Porch Arts Collective. For more information, visit frontporcharts.org.
