CPR & Safety Classes

We don't like to think about our children encountering a life-threatening situation. But the fact is that some will, and it's worth your time -- usually only half a day -- to take a safety class so you'll be prepared. Tiny bodies require different emergency procedures than full-sized adults, so make sure you sign up for a class that deals specifically with infants.

Classes differ in content, but many will cover infant CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), first-aid, the infant Heimlich maneuver, basic safety, and accident prevention. Some classes also discuss the appropriate ages to introduce different solid foods and explain which kinds are least likely to cause choking.
