Our Space Our Place, Inc.(OSOP) is an after school and career exploration program for middle and high school youth who are blind. Two-thirds of people who are blind and want to work are unemployed. Our goal is to change this reality for future generations.
By offering a year-round program, we provide a place where being blind or low vision is not a student’s defining characteristic, and we allow students to explore and to develop important and valued aspects of their personality, talents, and skills. In so doing, we fulfill our mission of preparing students who are blind to be involved in activities in their local community, have the time to develop friendships, lead activities, gain self-confidence, and explore career and educational options.
What you’ll do:
Learn what makes a computer work
Build your own website or app
Meet coders, video game makers and other professionals in the tech sector and explore career options in high-tech!
Our Space Our Place, Inc. is housed at the Tobin Community center in Roxbury. We meet every Thursday and the first 2 Saturdays of the month. During our program, students participate in theater, dance and cooking classes, tours of the museums and local galleries, team sports and other activities.
