Independent Film Festival of Boston
Join us this Spring at the Somerville, Brattle, and Coolidge for our 22nd annual festival.Get ready for an incredible week of storytelling and creativity! The Annual Independent Film Festival Boston (IFFBoston) is back from April 22–29, 2026 bringing a dynamic lineup of independent films to some of Greater Boston’s most beloved theaters.
Now in its 23rd year, IFFBoston returns with 90+ films spanning narrative features, documentaries, and short programs, plus filmmaker Q&As, panel discussions, and parties.
✨ Festival Highlights:
Opening Night (April 22): I Love Boosters, directed by Boots Riley (Somerville Theatre). Boots Riley expected in attendance. Opening Night Party follows in the Crystal Ballroom upstairs.
Closing Night (April 29): The Invite, directed by Olivia Wilde (Coolidge Corner Theatre). Olivia Wilde expected in attendance.
Narrative Centerpiece: Tuner, directed by Daniel Roher, starring Leo Woodall and Dustin Hoffman.
Documentary Centerpiece: Remake, directed by Ross McElwee. McElwee expected in attendance.
Other highlights include: Power Ballad (Paul Rudd, Nick Jonas); Late Fame (Willem Dafoe, Greta Lee); One in a Million; Cookie Queens; School for Defectors; new short film programs including the latest from animator Don Hertzfeldt; and a free Student Short Film Showcase.
