High Street Place is getting ready to transform itself into Greater Boston’s “Old Kentucky Home” as the renowned food hall hosts its 3rd annual Kentucky Derby Party on Saturday, May 4, 2024. Attendees will enjoy the thrill of the race as they watch the most exciting two minutes in sports on High Street Place's massive LED video entertainment wall, the largest in the city.
A classic Kentucky Derby bugler from Boston Music Project will greet guests as they enter the food hall. Derby Day revelers will then stroll down a custom turf carpet along a rose filled photo wall, setting the festive scene.
All are invited to dress to impress in their best derby hats and attire as they get set to watch the most exciting two minutes in sports on High Street Place's massive LED video entertainment wall, the largest in the city! Attendees will stroll down a custom Green Carpet complete with a Step-And-Repeat setting the festive scene. Among the celebrity guests in attendance will be Miss Massachusetts 2024, Melissa Sapini, and Miss Maine 2024, Summer Baldridge. Plus, Derby trumpeter, Sara Manning of the Harvard University Band, will perform “Call to Post” just before the race begins!
2024 Down & Derby Party Features Include:
Interview on the Green Carpet – Down and Derby’s very own “Bookie” and Rhode Island based comedian, Brian Vincent, will chat with and interview attendees about their Derby looks and winning picks for the day as they stroll down the green carpet upon arrival.
On-site Wagering Window – Down & Derby party goers will be able to purchase 50/50 raffle tickets and place them in the mason jar representing the horse they think will win! The winner will be picked from the jar of the Kentucky Derby winning horse and Love Life Now Foundation will receive 50% of the total bets.
Derby Hat and Style Contests – Guests can make their own run for the roses by competing for coveted prizes and bragging rights for Best Derby Hat, Best Dressed and Most Creative! Winners will be selected by a panel of celebrity guest judges including WBZ-TV CBS Boston anchor and reporter, Courtney Cole; Kristina Tsipouras Miller, founder of Boston Business Women network; and Dr. Neda Hovaizi, Founder of Lumiere Dental Spa.
Derby Food & Drink – With its amazing array of 20 food & drink vendors, High Street Place will serve up several different Derby Day inspired passed hors d’oeuvres and cocktails, including Mint Juleps, hand crafted by the food hall’s celebrated cocktail bar, Daquiris & Daisies; a Run for the Rosé wine flight will be served at wine bar, Bubble Bath; and Alewives Tap Room will have their favorite brews on draft from Newburyport Brewing and beyond. Guests will be treated to exclusive Derby Day menu offerings from several of High Street Place's amazing food vendors including Bourbon Meatballs and Mint Julep Milkshakes from Wheelhouse, Fried Chicken and Kentucky Bourbon Lemonade from Haley Jane’s, Bacon Bourbon Deviled Eggs and Shrimp Hushpuppies from Dive Bar, as well as specialties from Pennypacker’s, Tenderoni’s and more.
Derby Games – There will be all types of fun games throughout the food hall to keep guests entertained including Cornhole, Jumbo Jenga, Jumbo Connect Four, and High Street Place’s custom Pop-A-Shot.
Live Music & DJ – Get “Down & Derby” to live music from singer/songwriter Louie Bello and DJ sets from High Street Place’s resident DJ & Music Director, DJ J-Wall.
Tickets for the event are available for purchase now. Down & Derby tickets ($65) include admission, door prize chance, complimentary hors d’oeuvres, an Aperol Spritz tasting, dessert and all of the party features. Elite tickets ($80) include all of the above plus a complimentary cocktail from the event’s menu. All attendees must be 21+ and have a valid ID.
High Street Place will also offer some exciting prizes for best dressed, best hat, and the best dressed couple of the evening, encouraging guests to celebrate wearing their Kentucky Derby finest!
