Sail on the schooner Fame of Salem, an authentic replica of the successful privateer from the War of 1812. FAME sails every day -- weather permitting -- from Memorial Day through the end of September, and then weekends only through Halloween.

Reservations are not required, but they are recommended on summer weekends.

Fares:
Adults: $19
Seniors: $16
Children under 12: $13

What to Bring:
It's always cooler out on the water, so do bring a sweatshirt or windbreaker. High heels or dress shoes will be awkward, uncomfortable, and potentially unsafe -- we strongly recommend sneakers, sandals, or boat shoes. Cameras, video cameras, sunglasses and sunscreen are also good ideas.

5-starAwesome Trip For Families
Just spent an afternoon/evening in Salem the week before Halloween and went for a sail on the schooner — in a word, awesome. There was a lot of wind but the crew & the vessel were definitely up for it! I think the firing of the cannon was the highlight of the entire day for my kids. The crew were very friendly and gave us some good tips for restaurants and other family-friendly activities.
