Summer at Smuggler's Notch In the heart of Vermont's Green Mountains, summer at Smuggler's Notch features 8 pools & 4 waterslides, award-winning children's programs, guided hikes, family events and entertainment and more. Smuggler's Notch has earned a reputation as America’s Family Resort, and is proud to have received international recognition and numerous awards over the years. Guests return again and again.

Lodging
Smuggler's Notch Resort is completely self-contained. Accommodations are comfortable: fully equipped condos with full kitchens, most with air conditioning, fireplaces and balconies with views. All are a short walk or on-demand shuttle ride to 'The Village Center,' dining and shopping, or to the many water playgrounds, hiking trails, kids’ program locations and all other activities.

Activities
Smuggs has everything! A 6-year-old might want to got to a daily, supervised and organized camp program with other kids her age; a 10-year-old can even go on an overnight hike. Ar teen might want to get up late, skate board, fly down the Giant Rapid River Ride or hang out at a Teen Center with new friends. Adults are free --if they wish -- to hike, attend a creative workshop, have a massage, soak in a hot tub, golf, or unwind by a pool. And there are endess things to do together, from nightly festivals to magic shows and games. Don't forget tennis, biking, pottery painting, beading, swim lessons...

Daily hikes that range from easier walks, to even more strenuous mountain hiking, all with experienced guides and naturalists. Try mountain boarding or digglering (either way, a ride you’ll not soon forget), sport or rock climbing. There’s even a cool mountaineering treasure hunt called GeoCaching. Mountain streams and rivers offer canoeing and kayaking as well as a raft of fishing trips for all types of anglers.

TIPS↑ top

  • If you have preschoolers, you're in luck; special rates are availalble when bigger kids are in school.

  • Expect to have free time while your kids are taken care of (remember free time?) Bring books, sketchpads, etc., or join one of their adult programs.

  • The shuttle service is fine if you're not a Type A personality.

5-starFinally the vacation answer
Summer at Smuggler's Notch is like the best overnight camp ever, except, instead of a bunk, you collapse at night in your beautiful condo with a jacuzzi and Swedish washer/dryer. There is endless, quality programming for every kid, with or without parents. After day camp, it's hard to choose -- back to the superfun water parks? Three-legged races? Magic show, puppet show, bingo? Drop-off at child-care for adult peace? Skip camp entirely and go llama-trekking? And that's just the beginning. Most programs are included. Spa services and workshops are marked up, but not horribly. The 'country store' has a conscience: they don't gouge on the sunscreen. And everyone is very nice. Sure beats standing in line at Disney -- by light years. And depending on the week, it even costs less.
