Happiness at the AMC's Highland Lodge
Hiking is my husband's idea of a fun. My 7-year-old will try anything, as long as she has company. I like comfort, and eating food someone else cooks. Thanksgiving we all found happiness at the AMC's Highland Lodge.
The lodge, part B&B, part overnight camp. is a warm and cosy getaway in the White Mountains. It's surrounded by peaks and trails to climb them. Minutes away are cross-country ski trails and downhill areas. Activities -- hikes, crafts, even a bedtime movie, are kid-friendly, as were menu options. The lodge had tons of gear and outdoor clothing (all new) to lend, in case you forgot something. (We borrowed hiking poles and rain pants.) There were even sleds. And at day's end, we appreciated the lodge's L.L. Bean flannel sheets!
Unless your kids are self-sufficient (not mine!), choose to book during a scheduled family program. You'll be sure to find other (outdoorsy) families to hike with, or even play board games by the fire. A great solution for families that like the outdoors, with comfort.RELATED LINKS | ↑ top |
