Fall Pumpkin Float Festival at Frog Pond
Boston's annual Fall Pumpkin Float will be held at the Boston Common Frog Pond. Stay tuned for next year's event in 2021! Hundreds of illuminated jack-o’-lanterns will be floated on the water accompanied by spooky family activities.
The 2020 Frog Pond Festival may be cancelled due to COVID-19, but you can still find lots of re-imagined pumpkin festivals and jack-o-lantern displays near you for 2020 in our helpful guide to fall family fun.
Attendees are asked to bring 8-inch or smaller carved pumpkins that will be lit and then floated on the Frog Pond for a dramatic early evening display. (**Remember to CARVE your pumpkin ahead of time!)
Adults and children are encouraged to wear Halloween costumes and participate in a wide range of fun activities.
A monster mash of science activities will include:
- Massachusetts Horticultural Society activity
- Giant bubbles with the “Bubble Guy” Jim Dichter
- Themed LEGO creations Legoland Discovery Center
- A LEGO Dracula display
- PLUS lots of Halloween giveaways.
Children are invited to decorate luminary bags which will be displayed and illuminated along the edge of the Frog Pond.
This FREE, family-friendly event will also include lots of spooky activities and giveaways for all ages. The event is presented by Parks and Recreation, in partnership with The Skating Club of Boston.
